Messiah University's marketing program emphasizes learning by doing. Almost every marketing course involves experiential and service learning where students are not just passive observers, but active participants. You will analyze marketing practices of real organizations, and offer recommendations for improvement. You'll utilize concepts from psychology and sociology to create original advertisements for nonprofit clients. You'll even create complete marketing plans for real organizations. You will earn valued professional certifcations and badges that demonstrate job-ready skills easily displayed in LinkedIn profiles, and on websites and resumes.
There also are many exciting opportunities outside the classroom, including the Messiah University Marketing Club and the Impact Venture Challenge, a "Shark Tank"-style business competition where teams compete for $10,000 in prize money.
Learning in the classroom is important but actually applying that knowledge in a hands-on way can make all the difference. At Messiah University, the Experiential Learning Initiative (ELI) allows Messiah to take this hands-on learning to a new level by giving students the opportunity to apply what they have learned to various real world contexts--such as an internship/practica, service learning, off-campus program, holding a student leadership position, or participating in undergraduate research.
